sonnet 5 is that. as powerful as opus 4.8 but a fraction of the price
and very soon anthropic’s most powerful models will launch WITH a cheaper model at the same time (because it’ll have built one itself)
openai will do the same (gpt 5.6 coming soon)
frontier labs won’t just sit around while open models eat into cost margins. they’ll just create a cheaper model for you
