You're assuming that bigger accounts get pitched constantly.
I have millions of followers across platforms.
I thought the same thing at one point as well.
But, completely false.
Yes, my DMs are a disaster.
Hundreds of messages a day. But almost none of them are people offering to send me products hoping I'll talk about them.
It's all:
"Hey."
"Can I pick your brain?"
"How do I start this business you spoke about?"
Maybe 1 in 500 messages is actually someone sending me something relevant to what I already post about.
And when they do, if it's good, I usually mention it or try and bring them on the pod.
Before I built this audience, I was terrified to DM influencers about my businesses. I figured they were bombarded with offers and mine would get lost.
Total waste of hesitation.
The reality is that most creators are not getting pitched nearly as much as you think.
The trick is finding ways to message them outside their main platform.
Think Strava for runners
Venmo for finance people
LinkedIn for B2B folks
Facebook for the over-40 crowd.
Get creative. Message them where their inbox isn't too crowded.
You're leaving money on the table by not shooting your shot more.
And no this is not an invitation to blow me up on Strava with your CBD gummies haha.
(But feel free to Venmo me free money)
