Corey Ganim (June 22, 2026) lists seven overlooked AI shifts

Brief

Corey Ganim (June 22, 2026) lists seven overlooked AI shifts: a paid ad plugin inside Claude Code that reached 7.7M views and a $3.7M run rate in 24 hours (50% revenue split); Firecrawl becoming free and keyless for universal scraping and PDF-to-markdown; and GLM 5.2 emerging as the leading open-source model at about one-sixth the cost of GPT‑5.5.

Source evidence

Someone figured out how to get PAID every time Claude Code makes you wait. He hit a $3.7M run rate 24 hours after one tweet.

And it is one of 7 things that dropped this week most people slept on.

Me and @AndrewWarner broke them all down in the video below. Here's what you need to know:

  1. A plugin shows ads inside Claude Code while it runs. Click one, keep 50% of the spend. 7.7M views, $3.7M run rate in a day.

  2. Firecrawl is free now, no API key. Scrape any site, parse any PDF to clean markdown, even pages that block Claude or ChatGPT. Pay only when you scale.

  3. Newsjack turns any agent into a PR team. Open source. It finds trending stories and pitches reporters with you as the contributor. Cold PR, automated.

  4. Midjourney pivoted to healthcare. The Discord image tool now scans your body, vitals and biomarkers included. Strangest pivot I have seen in AI.

  5. A Netflix engineer's token proxy claims 60 to 95% fewer tokens. The Hermes co-founder tested it and it burned MORE everywhere but one case. Always test the claim.

  6. Grok Imagine 1.5 makes near-flawless AI video, lips and audio synced like a TV ad. Then Andrew's own prompt fell apart. The last 10% still gives it away.

  7. GLM 5.2 is the new #1 open source model. Only Fable 5 beat it on the benchmark. It tops GPT and Gemini at 1/6 the price of GPT 5.5.

The 2 shifts that matter most:

  1. Open models are eating the frontier on price. GLM 5.2 beats GPT and Gemini for a fraction of the cost. Stop overpaying for heavy models on light work.

  2. The gatekeepers are gone. Free scraping, free PR, free video models. Access that used to cost money or connections went to zero this week.

We broke down all 7 (plus the nerf gun movie that broke Grok) on this week's episode.
