Brief

Alexcooldev (2026-07-27) argues virality depends heavily on luck and catching the right format early, so organic strategy should focus on volume—more accounts and format tests to raise odds—because no technique guarantees 100% success. Thomas Burkhart echoes skepticism, labeling many recommendations 'cargo cult' and attributing virality to randomness or an algorithmic sweet spot.

Why it matters

@alexcooldev (posted 2026-07-27) says going viral hinges largely on luck and on finding the right format while it’s still trending.

Key details

  • He argues organic growth is a 'volume game': run more accounts and test more formats to increase your chances, and no method guarantees 100% virality.
  • Thomas Burkhart (@ThomasBurkhartB) calls many viral-growth tips 'cargo cult' and claims most viral outcomes are random or come from hitting the algorithm's sweet spot.
Source evidence

This is the truth: going viral depends a lot on luck and on finding the right format while it’s still trending.

That’s why I always say organic is a volume game. The more accounts you have and the more formats you test, the higher your chances of going viral.

No one can guarantee that you’ll go viral 100% just by following a specific method. 🥴

The more I read such posts the more I think a lot of the recommendations are nothing but cargo cult.
No one really has a clue and the majority of what happs is pure randomness or pure luck if you hit the sweet spot of the algorithm.
