Openfeed is a project announced by Gabriel Valdivia and Charlie Deets on 2026-07-20 to address Instagram's shift to Reels. Noting that many friends now publish photo journals on their own sites, the service aggregates those images into one curated feed so users can once again see the world through their friends' eyes.
Instagram's move toward Reels has reduced photo-focused feeds, so @gabrielvaldivia no longer has a single place to view friends' photos.
Now that Instagram is more about Reels than photos, I no longer have one place to see the world through my friends' eyes.
Instead, many of them have started posting photo journals on their own websites.
So @charliedeets and I teamed up again to build Openfeed. It pulls photos from personal sites and brings them into a single curated feed.
