CESA staff sat down with Pete Wyckoff, Deputy Commissioner of Energy Resources at the Minnesota Department of Commerce, to discuss Minnesota's goal of 100% clean electricity by 2040, and why clean energy is vital to a thriving Minnesotan economy.
Minnesota doesn't produce any natural gas or coal; renewable energy is the only type of energy produced in-state. "When we use [clean energy], we're keeping the money in Minnesota, building our own economy, building a rural economy in Minnesota, because that's where the wind and solar is," says Wyckoff.
The Minnesota Department of Commerce is a member of the Clean Energy States Alliance (CESA). CESA is a leading bipartisan U.S. coalition of state energy organizations working together to advance the rapid expansion of clean energy technologies and bring the benefits of clean energy to all.
