Sam Hogan received direct messages from about a dozen VCs after the tweet…

Brief

Sam Hogan reports that his tweet generated roughly a dozen VC DMs offering portco intros. He’s instituted a policy requiring two portfolio-company introductions before meeting VCs and notes—calling it “pretty sad”—that only a small fraction of VCs follow through, even though providing intros should take at most five minutes.

Why it matters

Sam Hogan received direct messages from about a dozen VCs after the tweet offering to introduce their portfolio companies (portcos).

Key details

  • Hogan now requires each VC to provide two portco introductions before he'll meet with them, and says few VCs actually follow through despite it taking “max 5 minutes.”
Source evidence

This tweet worked exactly as intended.

I now have DMs from about a dozen VCs offering to make intros to their portcos who they think we could help.

I get a lot of VC inbound so I've started requiring 2 portco intros before I'll meet with them, and I have to say it's pretty sad how few actually follow through loll like this should be no brainer and take max 5 minutes
