MOD X interviews Aresh Adel, Assistant Professor of Architecture at the University of Michigan where he directs the AdR Laboratory in robotic assembly. He performed his PhD studies at the ETH in Zurich, Switzerland working on the computational design process, technique and technology, behind the Dfab House, a non-standard light wood framed multi-level structure. His work investigates the potential for robotic assembly to address customization and structural material optimization, two challenges the modular industry currently faces.
