Rule #2 of Cave Diving is "Maintain a continuous Guideline (to the open water)", but the rule doesn't go into details regarding how close you need to stay to the line.
And although cave diving rules are pretty universal, best practices change sometimes from country to country, and even from instructor to instructor.
Here is a video of two cave divers who recorded themselves diving through nooks and crannies of Jackson Blue (a cave in Florida) and some people reported that at times they appear to be too far away from the main guideline.
