"Hands-on" with 7200 Volt Powerlines ?

Brief

Bobsdecline's demo video "Hands-on" with 7200 Volt Powerlines (published 2026-08-02) is a hands-on tutorial showing a lineman crew returning after a rain-aborted pole transfer to remove rubber line guards on a 7,200 V primary. They coordinate with dispatch, establish a substation hold‑off to remove reclosing, and emphasize mandatory pre‑job glove air‑tests, boom wipe‑downs, and safety checks.

Why it matters

Bobsdecline (channel) returned after a rain‑shortened pole transfer to remove rubber line guards on a 7,200 V primary; the crew coordinated with dispatch and established a substation hold‑off to remove reclosing (video published 2026-08-02).

Key details

  • Before every rubber‑glove job they inspect and air‑test rubber gloves, wipe down the boom, and complete mandatory safety checks; they avoid leaving rubber exposed to weather because it can degrade or fall off.
Source evidence

Yesterday's pole transfer got cut short when a downpour rolled in. When you're working primary with rubber gloves, the rain changes everything, so the crew packed up and left.

In this video we're heading back out to remove the rubber line guards that were left on the line. We don't like leaving rubber exposed to the weather any longer than necessary, also it could fall off.We coordinate with dispatch, remove reclosing by setting up a hold-off at the substation, and safely complete the work.

I didn't film every step of the preparation, but before every rubber glove job we inspect and air-test our rubber gloves, wipe down the boom, and complete the required safety checks.

Those procedures are mandatory—they just happened before I hit record.

As always, this video is for educational purposes. Electrical distribution work is extremely dangerous and should only be performed by trained, qualified, and authorized lineworkers using the proper equipment and procedures.
