Brief

Anthony Riera argues YouTube and Reddit are the dominant sources cited by LLMs and Google and launched Rankhog (rankhog.com) to perform free Reddit SEO audits that surface trusted threads and boost visibility without spamming. Jon Yongfook reports Google referrals have roughly halved this year, hurting signups, and urges shifting effort to YouTube, newsletters, and creators.

Why it matters

Anthony Riera (post published 2026-08-01) asserts YouTube and Reddit are the most-cited sources by LLMs and Google and launched Rankhog (rankhog.com) offering a free Reddit SEO audit that locates Reddit threads 'Google and ChatGPT already trust' to grow visibility without spamming; he warns Reddit will ban gaming attempts.

Key details

  • Jon Yongfook reported that signups and conversions are weak because Google referrals have 'basically halved this year' (chart referenced), concluding there's no short-term fix and recommending diversification into YouTube, newsletters, and creator partnerships because the 'just write content' strategy is losing efficacy.
Cleaned source text

Youtube and Reddit are the answer!

Those are the most cited sources by LLMs & Google themselves.

For Reddit I built rankhog.com that helps you with warming up your accounts and then find the relevant opportunities to get seen WITHOUT spamming or gaming Reddit.

Reddit will get you ban anyway if you do, they're on top of their game.

TLDR everything is downstream of us getting less traffic to the site. Our google referrals have basically halved this year (chart below).

Makes sense, since even anecdotally, I find myself using google less and less.

What's the answer? No short term fix. Need to explore other channels: youtube, newsletter, creators etc.

Current strategy of "just write content" seems to be on the way out in terms of efficacy.
