Brief

Home Service Base's pre-launch 'Signals' feature notifies users of competitor and market activity: on 2026-07-14 it flagged a rival launching a Google Business Profile in the Columbus metro where the author recently moved. Signals detects new GMBs, industry site launches, software adoptions (8 ServiceTitan installs observed), and changes in ad-channel usage (Google Ads, LSA, Meta, Bing) by county and category to enable fast competitive response.

Why it matters

On 2026-07-14 @homeservicebase tested the pre-launch 'Signals' feature in Home Service Base and received a notification that a competitor created a new Google Business Profile in the Columbus, OH metro where the author recently moved and has not yet launched their own profile.

Key details

  • Signals will alert users to (1) new Google Business Profiles tied to tracked websites/franchises, (2) new websites adopting customer-facing software — the author’s test detected 8 new sites installing ServiceTitan — and (3) new websites in specified industries; it also tracks competitors entering markets or starting/stopping ad channels like Google Ads, LSA, Meta Ads, and Bing Ads based on selected counties and business categories.
Source evidence

I'm testing the new version of Home Service Base (not publicly launched yet) and just received a notification from a new feature called "Signals" that one of my competitors launched a new Google Business Profile in the Columbus metro area – where I just moved and haven’t launched my own profile yet. It pissed me off a little, to be honest.

But I'm happy with the proof of concept. “Signals” in Home Service Base will notify users about:
1. New Google Business Profiles connected to tracked websites or franchises.
2. New websites starting to use customer-facing software. For example, today it detected 8 new websites that implemented ServiceTitan.
3. New websites launched within a specific industry.

These 3 signals are especially useful for software and service providers serving home service businesses. But Signals will offer even more benefits for business owners. Based on selected counties and business categories, it will track when a new company or franchise enters your market, when a competitor adds a new profile, or when someone starts or stops using an advertising channel such as Google Ads, LSA, Meta Ads, or Bing Ads – plus some other helpful signals. This helps you react quickly to changes in your market.
