Hop.Earth (post by @DVLPLONDON, 2026-08-03) generates driveable world terrain…

Brief

Hop.Earth, announced by @DVLPLONDON on 2026-08-03, renders driveable global terrain in-browser in real time from OpenStreetMap and satellite elevation (three.js). It supports single-player 'Hop Here' parachute spawns with X to summon your car, plus shareable multiplayer races. Recent WIP changes add night mode, physics-based textures, and dense street lighting.

Why it matters

Hop.Earth (post by @DVLPLONDON, 2026-08-03) generates driveable world terrain in-browser in real time using OpenStreetMap data combined with satellite elevation data and three.js.

Key details

  • Features include multiplayer races (use 'Create race' to pick start/finish, a route is plotted, then 'Share Race' yields a link), a single-player 'Hop Here' parachute spawn, and hold X to call the car to the road.
  • Recent WIP updates: added night mode, replaced placeholder terrain/road textures with physics-based textures, and now spawns 'a million street lights'—described as resembling 'Need For Speed + Google Maps.'

Goodbye clicking on Google Street View to check out the route!

In your browser, with Hop.Earth you can actually drive anywhere in the world🚀
You can also create multiplayer races🚗🏎🚓

The world is generated ahead of you in real-time from OpenStreetMap data combined with satellite elevation data as you drive.

Just added a WIP of night mode and replaced the placeholder terrain/road textures with some nicer physics-based textures. Also now anywhere you go a million street lights will be added too. This is actually slowly starting to look like the promised Need For Speed + Google Maps
