Here’s my hunch: truly exceptional writing is about to look more like craft beer, handmade surfboards, or custom furniture—still around, still loved, but no longer the default.
You can buy handmade shoes. You can get a wetsuit tailored to your exact measurements. You can find a board shaped just for how you like to surf a particular break.
None of that is necessary. And that’s the point.
