On 4 August, KLM KL751 (Quito–Amsterdam with the usual Guayaquil stop) had its emergency slides deploy unexpectedly while passengers were on the ground waiting to board for Amsterdam. The reason given was “misoperation.” The departure was delayed as a result.
Once a slide deploys on the ground the aircraft is effectively out of service until the system is made serviceable again...
