Nikunj pushes back on critics of Airtable's acquisition, noting it was a $2B exit…

Brief

Nikunj Kothari pushes back against timeline mockery of Airtable’s $2B acquisition, arguing that an exit with “hundreds of millions” in revenue and a beloved product is a rare, meaningful achievement and congratulating founder Howie Liu (@howietl). He compares the backlash to the earlier Brex sale to Capital One for $5.15B, which many also labeled a disappointment while competitors like Ramp were lauded.

Why it matters

Nikunj pushes back on critics of Airtable's acquisition, noting it was a $2B exit for a company with "hundreds of millions" in revenue and a product loved by many, and he congratulates founder Howie Liu (@howietl).

Key details

  • He parallels the reaction to Airtable with early-2026 criticism of Brex after its sale to Capital One for $5.15 billion (down from a $12.3 billion peak), saying social timelines called that deal a disappointment while Ramp was crowned the winner with an alleged ~$32 billion valuation.
Cleaned source text

Seeing so many people on the timeline clowning on the Airtable acquisition.. same thing happened early this year when Brex got acquired.

Did it reach the heights it wanted to? The founders will be the first ones to probably admit it didn’t.

But a $2B acquisition with hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue and a product that was loved by many is no small feat - and an achievement very very few people will achieve.

Congrats to @howietl and the entire team!
