Trade wars, low life expectancy but incredibly advanced medicine, everyone lives in misery but they travel from one suburb to the other in huge metal boxes, everyone shooting at each other, every politician is 100yo. Seems to be a metaphor of something but what?

The population in Star Wars is not meaningfully technologically advanced than Earth in 2026: they have lightsabers and laser guns, sure, but their robots are dumb and their clothes are shoddy. Star Wars GDP is much higher than us purely because population is much higher
