Just published study just dropped some bombshells on what we know about cancer.

Researchers found cancer cells that survived chemotherapy may release fructose (the sugar found in fruit and fruit sweeteners) to help communicate with other cancer cells and tell them to metastasize (spread.)

Cancer cells are using fructose to communicate!

But wait there's more.

"Cholesterol helps cells remain attached to one another, functioning like a form of biological glue. When cholesterol levels fall, those cellular bonds weaken, allowing cancer cells to separate more easily and move into other areas."

That's right. Lower cholesterol levels makes it easier for cancer cells to spread.

So what about statins?

Researchers are investigating the clinical significance between statin therapy and chemotherapy but are quick to point out that these findings are not a reason to stop taking statins (lol).

Talk about mixed messages!

Important caveats:

This study is based on cell and animal models, plus some correlative human data.

This study focuses on ovarian cancer and not all cancers behave the same.

Fructose from whole fruit is not as insidious as something like HFCS found in sodas.
