In our wargame, the Japanese fleet puts Hawaii under siege in 1943. There has been no Midway, no Coral Sea, no counterattack of any kind, because President Trump never ordered one. The islands starve for eight months while Washington explores frameworks.
When Honolulu capitulates, the president explains that Hawaii was thousands of miles away, badly defended before he arrived, and far too expensive to hold. His secretary of defense calls the surrender force protection. His secretary of state calls it peace.
