Another trap that many of them fall into is pattern matching to the era where software was the bottleneck. There are infinitely more exciting companies to start today when you're at the cusp of having legions of intellectual labour to call on and the greatest capital build out in history. Be more ambitious.
(Also obviously the true statement is that this drew a line through the elites, with some enthusiastically adopting and others being quite anti)
