Alex Nguyen (@alexcooldev) says he originally built a 3D chess game in 2 hours…

Brief

Alex Nguyen (@alexcooldev) is rapidly iterating a 3D chess game—originally prototyped in 2 hours—and released a follow-up update on 2026-08-07 that added three battle systems, two-player mode, walking piece animations, a full sound system, and performance gains after about one additional hour of vibe-coding. The build began on the web, is expanding to mobile, and will get macOS support next; Alex highlights AI as a force multiplier and includes a demo video and #BuildInPublic/#Shipaton tags.

Why it matters

Alex Nguyen (@alexcooldev) says he originally built a 3D chess game in 2 hours and, after community feedback, shipped a major update with just “another hour” of vibe-coding: 3 new battle systems, two-player mode, walking animations for pieces, a complete sound system, and performance improvements.

Key details

  • Platform push: the project started on the web, is being brought to mobile, and macOS support is coming next — Alex claims you can now “replace the default chess game on your MacBook.”
  • Post published 2026-08-07; Alex credits AI for accelerating development and used #BuildInPublic and #Shipaton to signal rapid iteration and public development.
Source evidence

Bruh, I’m building this game at a speed measured in days. 🫠

Started on the web, now bringing it to mobile, and macOS support is coming next.

Let’s see how far I can push this with AI 👀

BuildInPublic #Shipaton

Alex Nguyen (@alexcooldev)

After getting tons of feedback on the 3D chess game I vibe-coded in 2 hours, I just shipped another update:

→ 3 new battle systems
→ Two-player mode
→ Walking animations for the chess pieces
→ A complete sound system
→ Improved performance

And the crazy part is I only needed another hour of vibe coding to build all of this.

You can officially replace the default chess game on your MacBook now lol. 😆
