BREAKING: per WSJ, The Trump administration is making a second attempt to remove Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook.
After the Supreme Court blocked its first effort over due process concerns, the White House has formally notified Cook that President Trump is considering removing her and has given her until August 26 to respond to allegations of mortgage fraud, which she denies.
Her attorney calls the allegations “baseless” and says the move is an attempt to undermine the Federal Reserve’s independence.
If Trump proceeds, the dispute is expected to return to court.
