The notion that "The Singularity" is ahead of us is truly bizarre and a massive dilution of the term.
"The Singularity" is an event horizon we cannot look past. We have plenty of ways to model the behavior of super-intelligent entities (though most such efforts are quite shallow and overly anthropocentric). Our pre-human ancestors, however, couldn't model us.
The Singularity happened hundreds of thousands of years ago. Several thousand at a minimum. You're living in it. Enjoy!
