In light of the July payroll report showing a loss of 23K jobs (private payrolls modestly positive), I ask why this isn't the most important chart? Since the end of '22, the economy has created a total of 422,000 private jobs outside of the health care and education industries. We haven't seen anything like this. Job growth in the U.S. is cyclical; it shouldn't be stagnant.
The average American doesn't explicitly know this data, but I imagine he/she certainly knows it intuitively.
