Brief

Danny Postma announced on 2026-08-07 that combat is live and three systems shipped for his sandbox game: creatures with species-specific roaming, procedurally spawning rocky hills that players can mine into to find ore veins, and edge-by-edge fences and gates that can be dismantled or decay. All features are multiplayer and persistent, so structures and tunnels remain when players log out, and you might gain a new neighbour.

Why it matters

Danny Postma (@dannypostma) posted on 2026-08-07 that combat is now in the sandbox game (“And we got combat ⚔️🐮”).

Key details

  • He shipped 3 systems the same day: Creatures — animals roam the island with species-specific wandering behavior; Mining — rocky hills spawn, players dig through dirt into rock to find ore veins; Fences & gates — build edge-by-edge, add gates, dismantle, and untreated fences rot away.
  • All systems are multiplayer and persistent: player-built fences and mine tunnels remain after logout, and players may gain new neighbours when they return.

Big day on the sandbox game 🚀

Shipped 3 systems today:

🐗 Creatures: animals roam the island now. Each species wanders with its own behavior.

⛏️ Mining: rocky hills spawn across the island. Dig away the dirt, hit rock, mine into it and find ore veins.

🚧 Fences & gates: build them edge by edge, add gates, dismantle what you don't want. Stop maintaining them and they rot away.

Everything is multiplayer and persistent. Log out, come back, your fences and mine tunnels are still there.

And maybe you've gained a new neighbour.
