This question reveals her expectations. It reveals what she needed but did not get. It reveals what she is still longing for. If she says "I wish he had listened," she is telling you that she needs to be heard. If she says "I wish he had been more present," she is telling you that she needs attention. Her ex is not the issue. Her unmet needs are the issue.
