Brief

JacobAShell questions whether there’s an emerging "grapevine" pushing the message that "Arday should have KEPT HIS RECEIPTS," reacting to Victor Agboga’s thread. Agboga—who lists LSE, Duisburg‑Essen, Warwick, UC Berkeley, Oxford, SOAS and Liverpool—urges documenting certificates, transcripts, photos, contracts, evaluations and referee contacts so minorities can defend CVs and avoid being dismissed as "DEI diversity hires."

Why it matters

@JacobAShell questions whether there’s a "grapevine" spreading the lesson that "Arday should have KEPT HIS RECEIPTS," saying it’s hard to know what to make of posts pushing that message.

Key details

  • Victor Agboga (PhD) (@AgbogaVictor) argues the "Arday situation" teaches you must document everything to defend your CV: he keeps certificates, transcripts, photos, contracts, student evaluations, and referee contacts from LSE, Duisburg‑Essen, Warwick, UC Berkeley, Oxford, SOAS, and Liverpool, warning minorities must "keep receipts" to avoid being labelled a "DEI diversity hire" 😅
Source evidence

Hard to know what to make of posts like this. Is there actually a grapevine where the lesson spreading from all this “Arday should have KEPT HIS RECEIPTS”?

Victor Agboga (PhD) (@AgbogaVictor)

A major lesson from the Arday situation: document everything and always be ready to defend your CV. Across LSE, Duisburg-Essen, Warwick, UC Berkeley, Oxford, SOAS, and now Liverpool, I’ve kept every certificate, transcript, photo, contract, student evaluation, and referee contact. When you're a minority in elite spaces, you have to keep receipts so people can't wake up tomorrow and call you a DEI diversity hire 😅
