Meta has been hit with a massive $567 million fine in New Mexico over how Facebook and Instagram handle young users.
The judge found that Meta’s platforms can encourage addictive use and that the company failed to do enough to protect kids from harmful content and sexual exploitation.
The $567 million comes on top of an earlier $375 million penalty, meaning Meta could face $942 million in total from the case
The ruling also introduces new restrictions for users under 18 in New Mexico.
