It looks like the Congo River is flowing SW to NE as it widens out...but no, it actually flows the other way. The Congo is unusual in that it narrows as it gets closer to the sea. The water starts running faster and faster through a gorge. The water runs so fast here that fish can't swim across and two divided ecosystems have evolved along the opposite banks.
