Coming Soon: Trillions, a New Podcast

Brief

Trillions is a new Bloomberg podcast introduced on Odd Lots in late November 2017 that will focus on the exchange-traded fund (ETF) industry. Joe from Odd Lots frames the rationale: ETFs have reshaped markets, driven large flows, and generated both innovation and anxiety. The trailer features hosts Joel Weber (Bloomberg Markets Magazine) and Eric Balchunas (Bloomberg Intelligence), who agree the show should demystify ETFs for everyday listeners while still delivering nuggets for professionals. They promise episodes on how ETFs work, how to choose them, and what to watch out for, presented with accessible language, expert guests, humor, and pop-culture metaphors. The hosts are united on tone and purpose; there’s no substantive disagreement in the trailer, only a shared emphasis on making ETF complexity approachable (plus a recurring on-air eating gag as a playful motif).

Speaker 1: Hello, it's Joe from Odd Lots and I just wanted to tell you about a new podcast from Bloomberg. It's called Trillions, and it's all about the E t F industry. And of course, if you listen to odd Lots, you've heard me and Tracy talk about e t f s a lot of times, the role they're having in the market, the anxiety they're causing, how they're changing everything, how much money is flowing into them, and we really thought it deserved its own podcast, so you should really check it out. It's called Trillions. It's hosted by Eric bel Tunis. He's been on Odd Lots before, knows more about them than basically anyone else, alongside Bloomberg Markets Magazine editor Joel Weber. Together they're gonna be exploring their industry, how they're changing the world, all kinds of fascinating stuff. So check it out. Trillions the new podcast from Bloomberg. And here's a trailer for the show. Welcome to Trillions, a podcast about the exchange traded fund which probably know as the e t F. My name is Joel Wober and i'm Eric bel Shutis. I'm the editor of Bloomberg Markets Magazine, and I'm an analyst with Bloomberg Intelligence, and we're starting a podcast about e t f and how they become such a powerful investing tool. Wait, e t what come on, Joel? You know what an e t F is? An exchange traded fund. That's true. I know a little bit, but I don't know as much as you. Yeah. I basically spend every waking minute, thinking, writing, reading about e t f s. But the problem even for me is it's really easy to overcomplicate this stuff. So we're gonna keep things simple and at the same time we'll be able to give people who already use ETFs a few nuggets too. It will be a little bit like a Pixar movie. Kids Get something, Mom and Dad get something. Yeah, we want you to have a lot of useful information about e t f s, like how they work, how to pick them, how they can help you as an investor, and what to be wary of. And what makes this podcast unique is ever to try and make this topic that feels really daunting to the average investor a little bit more accessible. Yeah, this show will be something that a financial advisor might benefit from, but in a language that my mom can understand. The bottom line is that for many people, E t f s are like another planet, and Joel and I are going to be like your intergalactic tour guides. And to make this topic fun, we're going to use a little bit of everything underdisposal, some really cred guests, a lot of metaphors, a bit of humor, and probably way too many eighties references. Maybe some from the nineties as well and two thousand's, but not many. I'm also going to try and eat something on every show, why because that's sort of like what e t f s are doing in finance, eating everything. So look out for our first episode of this great new et F podcast on Novem
