The Body Genius, Part 4

Evan continues to piece together who is trying to frame him for Wesley’s death after waking in a gym with a second corpse killed the same way as Wesley. He escapes via the gym’s ventilation, hides with TV dad Rick Newcomb, and learns the police already suspect erratic behavior tied to him; his manager and industry contacts are circling. A group of Wesley superfans calling themselves the Wesley Maniacs meet Evan at Van Nij’s Public Library and show him a purported suicide note and a viral TV segment in which Pral Carvegot publicly humiliates Wesley during a Silver Fist casting. The fans argue Primordial Pictures and Straff Motor had rigged the role to favor Carvegot and that humiliation led Wesley to kill himself. Eileen, however, gives a different account: she dated Wesley, says he hired a private investigator and sought vengeance, and believes he was silenced because of what he discovered. Evan is torn between the Maniacs’ theory of suicide and Eileen’s claim of murder, but resolves to go after Carvegot at the Octane Awards in Westwood; the narrative sets up a final confrontation in the series’ concluding episode.
