Last month Ad Astra Group's hackathon was at one of the busiest airports in the world, LAX. Next month it will be at the Niagara Power Vista, on-site at New York State's largest electricity producer. Different infrastructure. Same industrial base. Western New York is one of the oldest manufacturing corridors in the country. The Erie Canal made it New York City's gateway to the Great Lakes, the Midwest's raw materials, and Canada's minerals just across the border. Eras of automotive and aerospace built on top of steel and aluminum mills, heavy manufacturing, chemical processing, and since the 1800s, Niagara Falls' hydroelectric power. Today, New York Power Authority, the nation's largest state-owned electric utility, operates both the Erie Canal and Niagara Falls' hydroelectric power…..and that's where we'll be on April 30th. At LAX, $120 billion of trade flows through annually. The LA primes, Northrop, Raytheon, Boeing, need precision-machined components, actuators, hydraulic systems, forgings and castings. Western New York still produces them. New York Power Authority is developing advanced nuclear capacity, supply chains and workforce. The kind that requires chemical expertise concentrated along the Gulf Coast, like Texas, where we hosted our first Industrial Base Hackathon with the Texas Nuclear Alliance. Different regions. One continuing conversation. National, state, and regional co-hosts in one room, each bringing different slices of the same reality. New American Industrial Alliance (NAIA) of builders, investors, and government leaders reindustrializing America.
