Want to help me build the future of the finance function?
February 06, 2026
Big news: I’m hiring for a role to work directly with me to build the future of the CFO function.
What started as a hobby venting on Twitter has turned into something much bigger. We've become the most engaged community of CFOs on the internet; 250k finance leaders all over the world.
Next comes an all-out offensive… to build the ecosystem of content, tools, and services for CFOs that I wish I'd had, but never did.
You saw a glimpse with SimCFO last week. That's just the beginning.
But I can't do this alone. I'm writing 4,000 words a week sharing timeless principles for CFOs, the foundational stuff that doesn't really change.
But the finance function will change a lot over the next 5 years. More than in the last 25. The ‘future of finance’ debates always miss one crucial ingredient. The only ingredient that really matters; the voice of real finance operators; CFOs doing the job.
That’s where we come in. Harnessing the incredible experience within this community, alongside my own experience to find the future. And then we’ll tell the Big 4, Consulting, Tech firms and the LinkedIn Thinkbois what that looks like. Not the other way round.
So… what’s the role:
Head of the CFO Innovation Lab \- working directly with me to design the future of the finance function. Someone who can sit at the apex of what's new, and pressure-test it until we know what actually works.
Your job:
Research real-world CFO best practices to support Secret CFO content and build new tools for the audience
Build and maintain the definitive operating system for how great CFOs operate across every context; growth, distress, PE-backed, founder-led, public, etc
Test the latest AI tools and software, to separate the wheat from the chaff
Create the battle-tested library of frameworks, models, and templates that define best practice for modern CFOs
Work with the community of CFOs to validate what you’ve found is _truly_ best practice
I need someone very specific:
You've had significant tenure in Office of the CFO consulting or a CFO advisory practice
But you’ve also worked the other side of the desk implementing; either in a finance team or on long secondments - you know how the finance function actually works
You can read financial statements faster than most people read their email
You are opinionated and very smart (much smarter than me)
You are a systems / frameworks thinker
You are a relentless AI and tech tinkerer
You read a lot, but have consistently put what you’ve read into practice throughout your career
You can hold a big vision in your head, and execute like a lunatic every day at the same time
You are US or UK-based or prepared to relocate
This is a remote role, but we will work directly together and need to meet in person frequently. This is not for the faint of heart, I can be annoying and intense.
And if you're happy to wait and see what the future of the finance function looks like, this isn't for you.
But if you think this is you… it could be the start of something incredible. Start by dropping your details in this short form, and I’ll reach out with next steps:
