Are you tired of watching your stock portfolio meltdown without the ability to do anything to help it?
Whether you've been invested in tech stocks, crypto, or whatever, your portfolio has likely taken a dive over the past few months. That's because you're investing in assets you can't control.
When you invest in a public company, you can't control their revenue, their expenses or their trajectory. You're a helpless passenger - you personally can't add any value to the asset.
You hope it goes up, but that’s really all you have – hope.
Because of this lack of control, I’ve never really understood why people invest in public markets at all (aside from dollar cost averaging into a broad index fund).
You can invest in the public markets - companies that you have no control over, where you have zero edge, that generally don’t even cashflow.
Or you can invest in the private markets – assets that you have 100% control over, you can have a crazy big edge in and that spit out cashflow.
Real estate is a private asset that you can control.
You can get sweetheart off-market deals from brokers (I"m currently negotiating a distressed deal a broker sent me just last week at a legitimate 30%+ day 1 profit if it goes through).
You can have inside knowledge about the market (once you own an asset, you have direct inside knowledge on rents, tenant behavior, etc).
You can add value through renovations regardless of what the market is doing.
I've added millions of dollars of value to my portfolio this year even though experts think it's a "bear market" in real estate. We’re actually on pace to have one of our best years ever.
In real estate, you don't need to rely on the market to win, you can generate the value yourself.
