The Bring Me Bae idea is an extension of (and spin-out from) my existing VIP matchmaking business. The origin story is that singles would apply to hire me, and tell me something like:

  • I'd gladly pay ≥$10,000 to find my person...

  • But I can't pay ≥$10,000 without a

  • guarantee

  • that I'll find my person, that's too much money.

Basically, clients want success-based pricing for matchmaking services. The problem is that matchmaking services (including mine) can't really offer success-based pricing. The search process is too labor intensive, and outcomes are too unpredictable:

  • My team and I may need to find and speak with dozens of women to deliver a single match to a matchmaking client. Over a six-month engagement, this can represent several hundred of hours of work.

  • It's not unusual for a client to suddenly decide they want to stay single for a while, or revisit a relationship with an ex, and hit pause on their search. Nobody can afford to do hundreds of hours of work, and not get paid.

But if nobody has to do all that work...

And instead of hiring a professional matchmaker to pound the pavement to connect with matches for you (i.e. huge marginal cost for each match)...

Anyone can suggest eligible single friends as matches to you (i.e. tiny marginal cost for each match), plus there's a real financial incentive to do it...

Success-based pricing becomes possible, hence Bring Me Bae 🙃

Will Bring Me Bae work?

I quietly launched one Bring Me Bae profile in December with two TikToks, and delivered dozens of matches to the client, including one really good match that led to multiple dates!

If I succeed at getting Bring Me Bae in front of the right demographic of aspiring matchmakers (probably women in their 20s and 30s with single friends?!) I'm optimistic we'll create amazing relationships for our members.

Whether Bring Me Bae works as a business is another question, and also remains to be seen. Currently I'm lighting money on fire operating it, but over time, perhaps Bring Me Bae can monetize through:

  • Share of reward upon success

  • Float on member rewards

  • Monthly service fee

Bigger picture, I'm confident that if we deliver great relationships to customers, the business side of things will eventually take care of itself!

Will Bring Me Bae replace dating apps?

No. As much as apps like Hinge and Raya increasingly feel like wastes of time for many singles, they've never really catered to high-intent singles who want to find quality long-term partners to begin with.

The population of low-intent singles who will spend hours gawking at profiles of people they'll never meet will still pay for apps like Hinge and Raya. Bring Me Bae isn't trying to compete for their $19/month.

Will Bring Me Bae replace high-end matchmaking?

No. Privacy is a huge value proposition to customers of high-end matchmaking services like mine. Bring Me Bae is hyper-public, and speaks to a different type of customer.

On that note, my VIP matchmaking service isn't going anywhere. It will remain my main focus, if I'm excited to spend time on Bring Me Bae, too!
