Brief

A Twitter/X post by @om_patel5 claims that Claude Code has been reconstructed from a leaked sourcemap into editable source, making the client inspectable and modifiable in ways the official obfuscated binary is not. The claimed capabilities focus on changing local behavior while still relying on Anthropic’s backend and normal usage limits, with the post urging quick cloning due to possible legal removal.

YOU CAN NOW BUILD AND MOD CLAUDE CODE DIRECTLY FROM SOURCE

someone rebuilt the entire Claude Code client from the leaked sourcemap into clean, human-readable, moddable code.

the official Claude Code binary is obfuscated. you can't read it. you can't change it.

this version you can.

tweak the client-side logic. change how it handles prompts. modify the system instructions. point it at other models with an Anthropic-compatible API endpoint.

it still connects to Anthropic's servers and uses your account limits. this isn't free unlimited Claude of course, it's the same tool but now you can actually see and change what's under the hood.

people are expecting DMCA takedowns any day so if you want to experiment, clone it now
