The future of Nuclear = Small, Mobile, Microreactors | Radiant

Brief

Radiant is developing Kaleidos, a mass-producible, portable microreactor to replace 1 MW diesel generators using TRISO-like fuel (~20% enrichment) in a 37-monolith graphite-moderated core and helium coolant. They've tested a foil-bearing helium circulator to 450°C, are validating passive air-jacket cooldown, plan a fuel test at Idaho National Lab in early 2026 (~18 months), and aim for customer delivery by 2028 and 50 units/year.
