Chroma is a vector-database “memory for AI” that supplies relevant context via embeddings/fuzzy search to language models; it ships in-memory and single-node today (usable inside Python/Jupyter) and was used by the Voyager Minecraft agent to store learned skills. The team is building a distributed, cloud-native scale-out database and hosted service to make retrieval robust and easy for developers.
