Hey there!

A few weeks ago, I caught up with an old classmate. We graduated from university together in 2011. He’s been working at a bank for the past 7 years.

He seemed a bit off. So I asked him how things were going.

“Honestly, man. We’re laying people off right now. Something doesn’t feel right. I think I might be next.”

This is a guy who did everything right. Good degree, stable career, working himself up at the same company.

Then something else happened.

Last week, a family member came to me for advice. She graduated two years ago with a degree in marketing. Applied to close to 40 jobs.

Nothing. “All my friends are in the same boat,” she said.

I have to admit, things are changing faster than I thought.

While I don’t think the economy is collapsing, it’s safe to say that everyone agrees we’re going through a massive shift.

The gap between how fast things are moving and how fast people are adjusting is where the real danger is.

We must act faster now compared to a few years ago. Until a few years ago, it was safe to assume that your job, company, or industry would still be here in 5 years.

But now? I’m not so sure. And this is true for all of us.
