Tuesday Thread: Mug Concierge

Brief

Culture Study’s Mar 10, 2026 "Tuesday Thread: Mug Concierge" is a light, community-focused Patreon thread prompted by member JTolles that asks readers to share mug preferences and local makers. The author frames the thread as a break from heavier topics—parenting, caregiving, aging—offering a personal split preference (a "wee mug" for coffee, a spacious one for tea) and soliciting recommendations for artisans and local producers. The post includes images and a direct link to the Patreon entry but is locked behind a paid-membership upgrade, so the author’s full list of recommendations and community replies require unlocking. Site metadata also flags an upcoming change to creator email sender addresses (CultureStudy@creator.patreon.com).

So today's thread prompt comes from JTolles, who asks:

> I am a longtime tea drinker who is newly into coffee and my mug needs are not the same as they once were! I also think this kind of thread could be a great opportunity for the CS community to flag excellent local producers, artisans, etc.

I am always a little flabbergasted when people don't have specific feelings about mugs, but maybe you're flabbergasted when people do. Personally, for coffee, I like/need a wee mug — and for tea, I want a capacious one. Here's my recs — and I can't wait to hear yours...
