I've received so many requests for this thread from so many vectors and today we're finally gonna do it. Let's say your fridge has finally reached the point of no-repair and you're ready to get a new one. Sure, we could talk about what kind of fridge you want. But WHERE should you get it? The local place, Lowe's, Best Buy?? Other examples: I need a new piece of art for my walls. Where should I get _that_? I want to get used XC skis for my family next year. How do I make that happen? I want to buy a used car. Do I use Carvana or go to the dealer or look on Facebook? What about new shoelaces? Compost in bulk? A specific baby thing? A kid's first pair of earrings? As referenced above, some of this conversation will naturally veer into _what_ you should buy when faced with an array of options. But I want us to continually refocus on WHERE you should buy it. That means you _your ask_ should be accompanied by your approximate location, because that will change how and what people recommend (and who knows, maybe you'll get a really great and really specific local recommendation). I'm also going to make the executive decision that this isn't a space to recommend Amazon, Walmart, or Temu. We know the objections to these particular services and we also know why some people can't avoid them, but today, I just want to push us to be slightly more creative in our recommendations. Everyone knows they can almost certainly find the (new) thing they're looking for at the Everything's Cheap Store. Let's push a little farther afield. ...
