Vercel donated $10K in AI Gateway credits to fund deepsec security scans of open-source projects, announced 2026-05-12. Deepsec performs per-workflow-file analysis and generates hardening suggestions focused on supply-chain vectors. Max Katz (@maxk4tz) introduced OpenSec (opensec.sh, github.com/maxktz/opensec) to route spare AI usage into audits and invites OSS maintainers to register.

This is amazing! Vercel just donated $10K in AI Gateway credits for running deepsec on OSS repos.

AI is only a threat to OSS if we don't use it for good. Also, since it is top of mind: Deepsec does scan every single workflow file and is consistently making hardening suggestions for supply chain vectors!
