MUST PURCHASE Gym Accessory:
Read this post if you use pin loaded machines regularly
If you’re machine maxxing, you’re going to want to snag a Gym Pin (or two)
These pins allow you to add more weight (in the form of plates) to pulley-based pin loaded machine stacks
The best Gym Pins to buy are the pins actually made by the company “Gym Pin” (based in the UK)
Herein lies the issue:
If you’re ordering a Gym Pin from this company and you’re from the United States, returns basically aren’t an option because of the economics (it’ll cost you too much to send it back)
The workaround:
Order BOTH the 3/8ths and the 5/16ths Gym Pins from MicroGainz on Amazon
The 3/8ths Gym Pin from MicroGainz is equivalent to the The “KINGPIN” from Gym Pin (in terms of the size/diameter of the end of the pin that goes into the cable stack)
The 5/16ths Gym Pin from MicroGainz is equivalent to the The “Original 2” Gym Pin” from Gym Pin (in terms of the size/diameter of the end of the pin that goes into the cable stack)
The “KINGPIN” is ultimately the best pin because of how long it is but the diameter of the part of the pin that sticks into the cable stacks MAY be too big for some or all of the machine at your gym!!! (It depends on the cable stack/exact piece of equipment)
Thus, you want to
- purchase the MicroGainz Gym Pins from Amazon with the intent to return both
- take them in the gym once they arrive
- go around the gym and attempt to stick them both in all of the machine you use currently / plan on using in the future
- using the information you gather, make your decision on purchasing both the KINGPIN and the Original 2” Gym Pin from Gym Pin or just one
I should mention: You can also run this experiment using Drill Bits if you already have those at home or you’d rather go out & purchase/return those
Hope this helps!
