I know other people have really different experiences here, but for me baby timing didn’t really require prediction, since I’m better at handling a toddler and a newborn than I am at handling a toddler when I’m first trimester pregnant

i was talking to a friend about second baby timing and my friend was like “i just don’t feel ready to have another baby yet.” this is super reasonable, but it hadn’t even even occurred to me as a way i could approach the issue. i assume i won’t feel ready for like 3 years, and the only way to do it is to just have the baby and be forced to figure it out as i go.
i now realize this is my approach to basically everything in life—sign myself up in a way that would be costly or impossible to reverse, and then figure it all out by necessity. i think i would have done easily 10x less stuff if i had any attachment to readiness.
