Brief

Cramforce (@cramforce) and Vercel are promoting portable agents that run across harnesses and models without lock‑in. Vercel's AI SDK adds support for harnesses like Claude Code, Codex, and Pi, provides sandboxed sessions and stream compatibility, includes a HarnessAgent API example, and is available as a canary release (npm i ai@canary).

Source evidence

Write your agent once. Run it on any harness.

I have high conviction that this will change how we build agents forever. We're sharing an early release today so we can build that future together:

  • No harness lock in
  • No model lock in
  • Full programmability
  • Strict security

Vercel Developers (@vercel_dev)

AI SDK now supports agent harnesses like Claude Code, Codex, and Pi with sandboxed sessions and AI SDK-compatible streams:

𝚌𝚘𝚗𝚜𝚝 𝚊𝚐𝚎𝚗𝚝 = 𝚗𝚎𝚠 𝙷𝚊𝚛𝚗𝚎𝚜𝚜𝙰𝚐𝚎𝚗𝚝({
𝚑𝚊𝚛𝚗𝚎𝚜𝚜: 𝚌𝚕𝚊𝚞𝚍𝚎𝙲𝚘𝚍𝚎,
𝚜𝚊𝚗𝚍𝚋𝚘𝚡: 𝚌𝚛𝚎𝚊𝚝𝚎𝚅𝚎𝚛𝚌𝚎𝚕𝚂𝚊𝚗𝚍𝚋𝚘𝚡(),
});

Available in canary: 𝚗𝚙𝚖 𝚒 𝚊𝚒@𝚌𝚊𝚗𝚊𝚛𝚢. We welcome your feedback as we bring agent harness portability to the ecosystem, with excellent DX.
